2,177 STUDENTS ALLOCATED LOANS THROUGH 2023/2024 APPEALS

1.   INTRODUCTION

The Higher Education Students’ Loans Board (HESLB), has announced a total of 2,177 students who are allocated loans worth TZS 7.26 billion after submitting appeal applications for the academic year 2023/2024 by filling out information and relevant documents to prove their neediness.

2.   HOW TO SEE APPEAL ALLOCATIONS

The 2,177 needy students who whose appeals were successful or got an additional loan amount, are advised to get detailed information about their loans through an online accounts for loan applications known as SIPA (Student’s Individual Permanent Account).

3.     76,261 STUDENTS ALLOCATED LOANS

The move to allocate loans to needy students who appealed makes the number of all first year students who have benefited from loans for this year 2023/2024 to reach 76,261. The said students are admitted to various Higher Education Institutions in the country for undergraduate studies (Local Undergraduate Degrees), and their total loans worth TZS 221.28 billion.

It may be recalled that, 74,084 undergraduate students had already been allocated loans worth TZS 214 billion in three batches announced respectively on Friday, October 20, 2023, Friday, October 27, 2023 and Thursday, November 2, 2023 before opening of the appeal window (November 8 to 17, 2023) to enable students who were not allocated loans or who needed an addition to their loan amounts for the academic year 2023/2024

Out of the 76,261 first-year students allocated loans, 43,468 (57%) are male and 32,794 (43%) are female.
